A nine-member Pakistani delegation headed by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Provincial Coordination participated in the 5th International Conference on Federalism held in Addis Ababa, capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, in December 2010.
Besides participation in the conference the delegation called on Prime Minister of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Mr. Meles Zenawi and Mr. Kassa Tekleberhan, Speaker of the House of Federation of Ethiopia. The Pakistani delegation informed the Speaker of the House of Federation of Ethiopia about the Federal system of Government in Pakistan. The Speaker, in turn, briefed the Pakistan delegation about the working of the House of Federation and its Standing Committees. He also said that the Federalism in Ethiopia had helped the government to promote unity in diversity.
Other members of the delegation include: Senator Afrasiab Khattak of Awami National Party, Ms. Bushra Gohar Member National Assembly of Awami National Party, Mr. Zafarullah Khan Executive Director Centre for Civic Education, Pakistan, Mr. Khlaid Aziz former chief secretary Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Syed Jaffar Ahmad Director Pakistan Study Centre, University of Karachi, Mr. Jami Chandio Executice Director Centre for Peace and Civil Society, Ms. Fauzia Shaheen President Women Media Centre, Pakistan and Dr. R.B. Rais, Professor of Political Science at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
